Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s in connection with a serious assault on a man in his 60s in Dundalk.

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s in connection with a serious assault on a man in his 60s in Dundalk.

The attack took place in a pub on Castletown Road, Dundalk, between 9pm and 10.30pm on Friday, February 28.

A man in his 60s suffered serious head injuries following the assault and he remains in a critical condition at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

The man was arrested in the Dundalk area this afternoon and is being detained at Dundalk Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí are appealing for information from anyone who was in the Castletown Road area between 8:30pm and midnight on Friday, February 28.
