A man in his 40's has been arrested following a stand-off with Gardaí at an apartment.
Gardaí have said the special units from the force had been negotiating with the man since the early hours of this morning.
Gardai and other emergency services have been attending the scene of this stand-off situation since around 2.30am this morning.
A man in his 40's left the scene and has been arrested and taken to Tallaght garda station for questioning.
A firearm was also recovered by Gardaí and has been sent for a ballistic examination.
Superintendent Peter Duff at Tallaght Garda station explains the negotiation operation that took place this morning: “Trained negotiators from various units of An Garda Siochana have been at scene through out the night and throughout the day involved in long negotiations over the hours
“I’m not going to say how many or what they spoke about but thankfully negotiations have come to a successful conclusion.”
The scene at the surrounding roads at Deeper square remain sealed off and a garda cordon is still in place.
