Two people have died following a crash in Co Tipperary earlier this evening.

Two people have died following a crash in Co Tipperary earlier this evening.

The two-car collision happened on the Nenagh to Borrisokane Rd at approximately 5.20pm.

A man and a woman in their 60s were fatally injured. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

A male passenger in his 20s who was also in the car was seriously injured. He was taken to the Midwest Regional Hospital in Limerick.

The driver of the second car - a woman in her 30s - was uninjured.

The road is closed to allow for a forensic examination and local diversions are in place.

Motorists are advised that the road is expected to remain closed overnight.
