A man and a woman in their early 20s have been killed in a car crash in Co Offaly.

A man and a woman in their early 20s have been killed in a car crash in Co Offaly.

The single-vehicle collision happened on the T32 at Doon Cross near Ballinahown at 4.40am today.

Another man who was also injured in the crash has been taken to Tullamore General Hospital where he is said to be in a serious condition.

The road has been closed off to facilitate a technical examination and diversions are in place.

Gardaí at Athlone have launched an investigation.

The two bodies were removed to Tullamore General Hospital where post-mortem exams will take place.
