A search team has found the boat from which a missing angler was fishing when it sank in rough weather almost two weeks ago.

A search team has found the boat from which a missing angler was fishing when it sank in rough weather almost two weeks ago.

Armagh angler Daryl Burke is still missing after the tragedy on Lough Ree in Co Westmeath

The boat was located yesterday evening at around 7pm by the Lough Ree sub aqua club in the Ballybay area of the lake, sitting in five metres of water.

Garda and naval divers plan to search the area this morning, weather allowing. A team is due to meet on site at around 9am to assess the weather conditions.

Mr Burke was part of a group of three from an angling club in Co Armagh who got into difficulty in windy conditions on Lough Ree, near Athlone.

A 27-year-old angler who was recovered from the water died in hospital while another member of the fishing group is recovering from his injuries.
