Longford wins cleanest town award

Longford has been named the cleanest town in Ireland for 2015.

That is according to the Anti-Litter League by Irish Business Against Litter published earlier today.

They beat off competition from Dun Laoghaire and three-time winner Kilkenny to take the crown after judges found it to be cleaner than European norms.

Three quarters of the 40 towns and cities surveyed were at least as clean as their European equivalents.

That represents a slight decrease on the previous year.
