Liberty open staff consultations over redundancies

Management at Liberty Insurance are to open a 30-day consultation with staff today, as they seek to achieve the 285 jobs cuts announced yesterday.

The firm, which took over Quinn Insurance's operations in the North East, said it plans to shed 140 staff from Dublin, 75 from Cavan and 70 in Enniskillen.

Liberty is making the move ahead of its entry into the UK market.

Chief Executive, Patrick O'Brien, has said they want to achieve the redundancies on a voluntary basis, and is eager to hear what staff members have to say at the opening of talks today.
