Liberty Mutual boss Kelly: Quinn Insurance has bright future

The chairman of new Quinn Insurance co-owner Liberty Mutual has said the "past is the past" and that a re-branding of Quinn Insurance will ensure the company moves on.

The chairman of new Quinn Insurance co-owner Liberty Mutual has said the "past is the past" and that a re-branding of Quinn Insurance will ensure the company moves on.

The company will be known as Liberty Mutual Direct Insurance, and be jointly owned by Us insurance giant Liberty Mutual and Anglo Irish Bank.

Ted Kelly said he had never met Sean Quinn, who founded the company, and added that he believed it would be inappropriate to do so.

Liberty Mutual last week signed an agreement to take operational control of Quinn Insurance.

Mr Kelly said the move into Ireland was "significant", and that he was confident the business would grow.

"We're on a go-forward basis. The past is the past…We look to the future with great optimism," he said.
