A search is ongoing in Co. Kerry for a hillwalker missing from Mount Brandon.

LATEST: Hillwalker missing on Mount Brandon found dead

UPDATE 6.45pm: A man, who had been missing on Mount Brandon in west Kerry since yesterday, has been found dead by rescue teams.

The man, believed to be in his early 60s and from the UK, was hillwalking alone when he became lost.

A number of search teams were involved in the operation including the Valentia Coastguard.

The man's body was located this evening.

EARLIER: A search is ongoing in Co. Kerry for a hillwalker missing from Mount Brandon.

The man in his 60s, believed to be from the UK, was reported missing yesterday evening after failing to return to his car.

The Dingle Coast Guard and Kerry Mountain Rescue are searching the area although poor visibility is restricting their efforts.
