Labour chief whip 'would have certain difficulties' with SF coalition

Labour's chief whip Emmet Stagg has said he would have difficulties entering Government with Sinn Féin.

Junior Minister Alex White, who is running against Social Protection Minister Joan Burton for the leadership of the party, has previously said he would be open to the idea.

Emma Stagg has given his backing to Joan Burton who has ruled out the idea of entering into coalition with Sinn Fein.

Speaking to KFM today, he said that he would not be comfortable with the idea either.

"Well, I'd have certain difficulties with that," he said.

"I would like to see a Labour government, but we seem a long, long, way away from that."
