Kilkenny gardaí 'escort pile-driving equipment at 4am' despite residents' protest

Kilkenny residents protesting against the Central Access Scheme have expressed their outrage after pile-driving equipment was brought onto the site overnight.

Protestors have been holding a 24-hour presence at the site, but say that dozens of gardaí escorted the machinery onto the site at around 4am.

The Save Kilkenny group says they have 10,000 signatures against the central access road scheme - and are proposing a ring road around the Marble City instead.
