Kerry Babies DNA investigation extended to UK

Gardaí in Kerry investigating the death of 'Baby John' are to examine whether one of his parents is living in the North.

The baby was found stabbed to death at White Strand beach in Cahersiveen on April 14, 1984.

A full DNA profile was recently established from a blood sample taken from the murdered newborn baby and preserved by gardaí.

It confirmed Joanne Hayes is not Baby John’s mother.

Gardaí issued an apology to Ms Hayes last month.

Detectives will now trawl through the UK's DNA database in an effort to try and solve the case.
