Taoiseach Enda Kenny said today that he is willing to meet rape victim Fiona Doyle.

It follows reports today the 46-year-old wants to meet Deputy Kenny in the wake of the sentencing of her father for raping her continually over a nine-year period.

Patrick O'Brien (aged 72) of Old Court Avenue, Bray, Co Wicklow, was jailed for 12 years, but nine were suspended. He was released on bail, pending appeal.

The Taoiseach told the Dáil that he will meet Fiona Doyle if that is what she wishes.

"I would be quite willing to meet Mrs Doyle, and to hear her view, as a victim of unspeakable horror, as to a perspective on how a victim would see the court system working" he said.

"I can't, of course, comment upon the judge in question, or upon the sentence issued, but I'm very happy to meet with Mrs Doyle at a convenient time."
