Kenny: Cabinet taking all advice before deciding on budget cuts

The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, said the Cabinet will make the decision on how much to cut in October's budget with all the advice it's being given.

His comments come as the coalition is repeatedly warned to stick to the plan for a €2bn correction.

He said the Government will meet the deficit targets, but is also keen to ensure people feel some benefit of the hardship of the recession/

"Obviously other countries, other organisations, the independent fiscal council - all of these can have their views, and they're very important views, and we take them into account," he said.

"At the end of the day, the politicians as a cabinet, have got to make a decision that we think is in the best interests of reaching those targets, and at he same time, reaching out in recognition of people who have put up with a lot of serous challenges in the last number of years."
