Jury hears of Perrin denying she deceived pensioner

A jury has heard a District Court judge absolutely denied to gardaí that she had deceived a pensioner into leaving half his estate to her children.

Sixty year old Heather Perrin of Lambay Court, Malahide, Dublin told detectives she followed Thomas Davis's instructions while acting as executor of his will in January 2009.

In a garda interview, former solicitor Perrin said she had known Thomas and Ada Davis since she was a young child and had given them legal advice formally and informally since the early 1980s.

Asked when Thomas Davis had instructed her to make her children Sybill and Adam beneficiaries of his estate, she replied it happened over a couple of visits as initially the estate was just to be left to his two nieces.

She wouldn't say more, citing client confidentiality, but when detectives put it to her that her claims were categorically refuted by Mr Davis she said she was absolutely certain that the will was in accordance with his instructions.

Pressed further as to why he was so insistent that her children were not to be his beneficiaries she replied one reason was that they are in their 80s and may have forgotten.
