There was a huge scream of 'Yes' from her family as the verdict, which was unanimous, was returned.

Joe O'Reilly showed no emotion, whereas Rose Callaly, Rachel's mother, cried uncontrollably as did other members of the family.

Joe O’Reilly, 35, was accused of murdering his wife Rachel at their family home in Dublin on October 4, 2004.

He denies killing the 30-year-old mother of two at Lambay View, Baldarragh, the Naul, Co Dublin.

Rose Callaly was greeted with a round of applause after her victim impact statement was read out in court which she said: "Nearly three years ago, Rachel said goodbye to her two boys and almost 20 minutes later was subjected to a brutal attack. We will never accept the loss of our beautiful Rachel."
