The Junior Minister in the Department of Health, Alex White, said he would like to see a ban on alcohol sponsorship.

The Government is tightening of the law on alcohol sales, which will ban below-cost selling.

A meeting will take place next week to further discuss the legislation, which should be in effect by the end of the year.

Minister Alex White is quoted in today's Irish Independent as saying he is still pushing for a ban on drink sponsorship of events.
