Ireland has pledged another €5m to assist civilians affected by the Syrian crisis.

Ireland has pledged another €5m to assist civilians affected by the Syrian crisis.

The money will be given to Goal, Oxfam Ireland and Concern and will be used to provide emergency food, water, health and protection.

The UN has called the Syria crisis "the greatest humanitarian crisis in modern history".

Today's announcement brings Ireland's total contribution to date to €19m.
