Met Éireann says a status orange weather warning will remain in place until at least lunchtime today.
The weather forecaster is predicting high winds with strong gusts over counties Wexford, Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford while the possibility of coastal flooding continues.

Meanwhile, a yellow wind warning also remains in place for the rest of the country.
