Labour is admitting that it will not be possible to abolish college fees within the lifetime of the next Government, due to the financial constraints facing the country.

However the party is pledging to reverse the €500 rise in the third level Student Services Charge, which was increased to €2,000 in the Budget.

If elected into Government, Labour said that it will also overturn the new €200 charge for Post Leaving Cert courses, which is due to take effect in September.

The party says new school principal appointments will only be for 10 years, while new principals will be required to complete a Masters degree in educational management.
