IMO agrees 'significant' deal to represent GPs in contract talks

The Irish Medical Organisation says it has reached a "highly significant" deal which will allow it to represent GPs in contract talks with the Government.

It follows the Competition Authority's decision to drop its High Court action against the doctors' union.

The IMO will now represent all members in talks over the changing of the GP contract, including plans for Free GP care for the under 6's.

Dr Ray Walley, the head of the IMO's GP Committee, says it is an important bargaining tool for doctors.
