Hundreds march to voice anger after mother-and-baby revelations

Hundreds of people marched tonight from the Department of Children to Leinster House today to voice their anger at the Tuam mother-and-baby-home scandal.

Some demonstrators lit candles in memory of 800 babies who died at the Tuam home.

Others placed baby clothes outside Government Buildings.

It was organised by the group Justice for the Tuam Babies.

"It was sombre, but at the same time it was uplifting, that people had come together and were able to commemorate the little lives that were lost and the abuses that took place," said spokesperson Kevin Squires.

"Defiantly, there was a subdued anger there. I don't think people would have come out if they weren't angry."
