A major shopping centre and hundreds of homes have been evacuated in Cork city following a gas leak.

A major shopping centre and hundreds of homes have been evacuated in Cork city following a gas leak.

The leak in the Blackpool Shopping Centre is being investigated by the emergency services and Bord Gais.

Residents of the area are being housed in Blackpool Church until the area is declared safe.

It is believed the situation will be brought under control and residents will be allowed back to their homes later tonight.
