Ireland is set to bask in the high 20s today as the country enjoys a mini heatwave.
The mercury hit 27 degrees yesterday, but it is expected parts of the country will be a little hotter at 28 degrees later.
The midlands region will be feeling the heat the most, but most parts of the country will see temperatures above 22 degrees.
Our tropical spell will peak today, with temperatures dropping slightly from tomorrow.
Met Éireann has issued a warning for the high temperatures, saying there could be several hours of unbroken sunshine in many areas.
Age Action added its concerns and called on people to check on older neighbours, especially those living alone.
“While the warm weather is welcome, it can pose difficulties for older people, especially those with respiratory and heart problems,” spokesman Eamon Timmins said.
“Certain medications can also reduce people’s tolerance of heat.”
The pollen count today is extremely high in all places.
