Hospital campaigners mount protest at Dáil

Around 600 campaigners against the downgrading of Monaghan General Hospital are protesting outside the Dáil today.

Around 600 campaigners against the downgrading of Monaghan General Hospital are protesting outside the Dáil today.

The demonstration is designed to express local anger at the plans, which include ending the 24-hour A&E service in Monaghan.

A number of independent reports have recommended the move, but it has been resisted by local residents for the past number of years.
