Police have launched an investigation after a pipe bomb was discovered in Carryduff, Co Down.

Police have launched an investigation after a pipe bomb was discovered in Carryduff, Co Down.

The viable device was found at the door of flats at Doon Park in the Co Down town shortly before 9.30pm last night.

A number of homes in the area were evacuated and an army bomb disposal team was tasked.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said no motive had been established.

Detectives at Castlereagh have appealed for information.
