Homeless Jesus statue to be unveiled in Dublin

It is hoped a new statue in Dublin will serve as a reminder to residents to care for the homeless.

The Homeless Jesus statue will be unveiled in Christchurch Cathedral this afternoon.

It has been gifted anonymously to the city. There are 10 others around the world, including in the Vatican.

Dean of Christchurch, the very Reverend Dermot Dunne said he hoped the statue would serve as a daily reminder of those who need assistance in society.

"As Christians, the heart of the Church is among the poor. It is the Christian Church's concern here in Dublin that the poor and homeless are cared for," he said.
