A Holocaust Memorial commemoration gets underway in Dublin in an hour.
During the ceremony six candles will be lit for the six million Jews who perished, as well as candles for all of the other victims of Nazi atrocities.
The Taoiseach Enda Kenny will address the congregation.
Lynn Jackson from the Holocaust Education Trust Ireland has said three Holocaust survivors will also be in attendance; “By having the annual anniversary of the Holocaust memorial day, which is set on January 27 which is the date that Auschwitz was liberated in 1945.
“It bring our thoughts back to those times, but it also reminds us there are still survivors of the Holocaust, the three Jewish Holocaust survivors living in Ireland will also attend.”
