High Court to hear Carroll’s fresh bid for examinership
The High Court will hear a fresh bid today by lawyers representing troubled developer Liam Carroll for companies he controls to be placed into examinership.
The property group Zoe, which owes various financial institutions more than €1bn has said it will collapse if it is not granted court protection.
Lawyers for Liam Carroll have already lost their high court application and Supreme Court appeal for examinership.
However, they then mounted a last-ditch attempt for court protection and Mr Justice John Cooke said there were strong reasons why a new petition to allow the companies seek the protection of the court should be fixed for hearing.
The judge said there was nothing in the company’s legislation which prohibited the bringing of a second petition.
This hearing will take place today and if an examiner is appointed, he will be given 100 days to come up with a scheme to save the company.
