Heath insurance price rises not justified, says Health Minister

Minister for Health James Reily has said that he does not believe price hikes announced by Laya Healthcare and GloHealth are justified.

Laya is increasing its prices by an average of 20% from March.

GloHealth's prices will go up by around €49 a year for an adult and €14 a year for a child.

Minister Reilly's echoed the comments of Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore, who said last night that he "shares the wonder" as to why private health insurers are only hiking their prices.
