The Junior Finance Minister Brian Hayes has again raised the prospect of cutting taxes for struggling families.
Mr Hayes said the Government may consider reducing the Universal Social Charge in the next Budget.
It is the latest in a series of comments by various ministers who say taxes on families should be eased later this year.
Minister Hayes, who claimed both parties in Government are keen on the idea, said: "If you actually read back over what the Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore said at his party's conference just in December, he actually spoke about this issue and the question of fairness and whether or not the 1.8 or 1.9 million who are working have to shoulder the burden for everyone else.
"So this isn't just a Fine Gael issue, it's not just an issue that myself and Leo have raised, it's an issue that a lot of Labour colleagues have raised as well."
