Mary Hanafin is to contest the local election for Fianna Fáil in the Blackrock ward in Dublin, despite being asked three times by party eader Micheál Martin not to do so.
The former Minister has confirmed she is running after being asked to by Fianna Fáil headquarters.
However the party later performed a u-turn and asked her to withdraw her nomination papers, which were lodged at the start of the long weekend.
Mary Hanafin has confirmed that the party leader Micheál Martin asked her to withdraw three times over the course of the weekend, but says she's standing firm.
She will run on the Fianna Fáil ticket alongside Chairperson of Ógra Fianna Fáil Kate Feeney.
