Gun, drugs and cars seized in Tallaght raid

Gardaí in Dublin area seized drugs, cars and a firearm in Tallaght yesterday.

As part of an intelligence-led operation, gardaí searched an industrial unit in the Cookstown Industrial Estate yesterday morning.

During the search, cannabis herb and cocaine with an estimated street value of up to €28,000 (pending analysis) was recovered along with a firearm.

Four cars that were believed to be stolen were also seized.

Two males, 29 and 39 years old, were arrested at the scene and were detained at Tallaght Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

They were both released without charge late last night and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. The investigation is ongoing.

The search was carried out by the detective unit in Tallaght, DMR South Task Force, Sundrive Road Drug Unit and the Garda Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit supported by uniformed officers from Tallaght.
