The Garda Representative Association is describing the closure of 100 garda Stations across the country as a "sledge hammer approach".

The move was confirmed by the garda commissioner yesterday at the same time as the Budget.

The majority of stations will be closed within the next six months, and 28 garda divisions are being amalgamated in to 14.

Speaking to KFM, president of the GRA John Parker said the geographical area affected by these closures is huge.
