The Simon Community is calling on the Government to live up to its commitments on housing in next week's budget.

The homeless charity says that the budget must contain measures to improve the provision of social and affordable housing.

Otherwise, it says, the Government could fall behind its own targets by as much as 40%.

Around 43,000 people are currently on housing waiting lists across the country.
