Fine Gael is calling on the Government to beef up its computer security systems following revelations that 80 departmental laptops have been lost or stolen in the past five years.

Reports this morning say 12 laptops have been stolen from the Department of the Environment, while five have been taken from the Department of Social and Family Affairs.

Two were stolen from the Taoiseach's office last year and number of government-controlled websites have also fallen victim to hackers in recent weeks.

Fine Gael's Damian English says that, while the Government is not directly to blame, it has to take some steps to prevent more security breaches.
