Govt receives official Vatican response to Cloyne Report
It has emerged the Government has received an official response from the Vatican in relation to the Cloyne report.
The document uncovered how allegations of abuse against clerics in the diocese were mishandled, despite child protection procedures being put in place.
The Cloyne Report also revealed how the former Bishop John Magee misled a previous inquiry and gave a false account of how he was handling allegations.
A Government spokesperson has said the Vatican's reaction to the report is now "being considered".
Earlier, it had been claimed that a 15-page report had been finished by Vatican officials and its release is "imminent".
