The Government have assigned television journalist Ronan O'Domhnaill to the role of new Irish Language Commissioner.

The Government have assigned television journalist Ronan O'Domhnaill to the role of new Irish Language Commissioner.

The 38-year-old Connemara native works as a political correspondent with Irish language station TG4 and also contributes to RTÉ.

He replaces the outgoing Sean O'Cuirreain who resigned from his position.
