The most popular searches on Google Ireland for the first half of the year were dominated by celebrity deaths, sporting events and Glee.

The most popular searches on Google Ireland for the first half of the year were dominated by celebrity deaths, sporting events and Glee.

The fastest rising online search was for Gerry Ryan. The broadcasters sudden death in April sparked a 1,150% increase in searches for his name.

Searches for TV programme 'Glee' jumped by 1,050%, whilst the World Cup was the third fastest rising search term.

Our fascination with the lives of celebrity and their marriages made Ashley Cole and Ronan Keating the fastest rising searches in February and May this year.

Among the most recent popular product searches on Google are the iPhone 4, the HTC Desire and the iPad. Other popular products include running shoes, binoculars and sleeping bags.
