Gay rights activist Rory O'Neill has called on the Government to drop the proposed referendum on gay marriage.

Legal opinion is divided on whether a referendum is actually required and Mr O'Neill, who also goes by the stage name Panti Bliss, says the Government should be brave on this issue and introduce legislation now.
