Gardaí 'weren't going to take no for an answer', says Bailey's partner

Jules Thomas, the partner of Ian Bailey, has told the High Court today that she felt under enormous pressure to sign a statement following her arrest because gardaí "weren't going to take no for an answer".

The 65-year-old artist is being cross-examined for a third day as part of Mr Bailey's action for damages for alleged wrongful arrest over the 1996 murder of French film producer Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

Ms Thomas is giving evidence about her own arrest in 2000.

She said gardaí were shouting at her and put a hand over the document she was asked to sign.

It has been put to Ms Thomas by State lawyers that this is the first time she has ever suggested she could not see what she was signing.
