Gardaí renew warning about radioactive rods taken in Dublin burglary

Gardaí are renewing their warning to the public of the 'highly dangerous' radioactive material that was taken in a burglary in Swords over the weekend.

Gardaí are renewing their warning to the public of the 'highly dangerous' radioactive material that was taken in a burglary in Swords over the weekend.

The radioactive material taken is described as seven lightning preventers which were held in a red metal box.

They have the appearance of aluminium or stainless steel but are of no scrap value.

Gardaí have described them as 'highly dangerous' and say they should not be touched or approached.

They said that if any person discovers the items or has any information as to where they are, they should 'not approach or touch these items' but should contact Gardaí at Swords 6664700 or any Garda Station or contact the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland on 01-2066913, 01-269 7766, (Out of office hours – 0879163364).
