Gardaí have released a woman in her 40s who they were questioning in connection with the alleged rape of a young girl in south Co Dublin.

Gardaí have released a woman in her 40s who they were questioning in connection with the alleged rape of a young girl in south Co Dublin.

Five men aged between 19 and 47 and two women in their 40s were detained in Dublin and Wexford yesterday.

The alleged abuse is said to have begun at the child's home six years ago and continued right up until the girl was taken into care.

All seven arrested have now been released without charge.

Files are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
