Gardaí launch murder probe after 'callous and brutal' killing

Gardaí have launched a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a father of one in a pub in Dublin yesterday evening.

The victim, named locally as 25-year-old convicted drug dealer Paul Cullen, was gunned down by a masked gunman as he sat drinking with his father and other family members at around 7pm in the Cabra House pub on Fassaugh Avenue.

Gardaí are appealing for information about a medium-sized, dark-coloured motorbike used as a getaway vehicle by the gunman and a second man.

They are also collecting CCTV footage from the pub and the surrounding area in a bid to establish an exact timeline for the murder.

Superintendent David Taylor of the Garda Press Office says this was a "callous and brutal" murder - and he is appealing to anyone who was in the pub to come forward.

Supt Taylor said: "You can imagine when we got to it, it was a pretty chaotic scene and people were fleeing for their own safety.

"A lot of people have come forward, a number of people would have been in the pub as there was a Premiership match on beforehend, so people were coming and going.

"We are asking anybody who might have been in the pub at that time, we would still like to talk to people that were in the pub beforehand."
