Gardaí are today investigating two separate overnight pipe-bomb hoaxes in Dublin.

Suspicious devices were found attached to cars in the Dun Laoghaire and Finglas areas of the city just after 10pm.

Bomb disposal experts were called to both scenes, but the devices were subsequently declared to be elaborate hoaxes.

A number of people were evacuated from their homes during the alert in Finglas, but were allowed to return a short time later.

Gardaí say there was no connection between the two incidents.
