An investigation is underway after a 34-year-old woman died in a house fire in Sligo town last night.

An investigation is underway after a 34-year-old woman died in a house fire in Sligo town last night.

Fire crews and gardaí were called to the house on White Strand View in Aylesbury Park at around 9.20pm.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to Sligo Regional Hospital for a post mortem examination.

Two other boys, aged 3 and 18, who were in the house at the time escaped uninjured.

The Acting Chief Fire Officer in Sligo, Gerry O'Malley, said the local gardaí are investigating the scene.
