Gardaí investigate after father and son shot in Dublin

A forensics team has arrived at the scene of a shooting in Dublin last night.

A father and son were attacked at a housing estate in Ballyfermot at around 10.20pm.

Emergency services were called to Clifden Drive after locals heard gunfire last night.

Upon arrival, they found a father and son suffering from gunshot wounds and they were taken to St. James Hospital.

Gardaí say they were both shot in the back but their injuries are not life threatening and they are expected to pull through.

Shortly after the attack, a car was found burning at nearby Croftswood Crescent.

Detectives believe this was used as a getaway car and have taken it away for tests.

Back at the scene of the shooting, a forensics team is already combing the area for clues as Gardaí try to establish a motive for the attack.

In the meantime, anyone with information is asked to contact their local Garda station or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
