Gardaí have identified the body of a man found in Coney Island in Sligo last Saturday as missing man Michael McGowan.

Gardaí have identified the body of a man found in Coney Island in Sligo last Saturday as missing man Michael McGowan.

The 43-year-old had not been seen since Christmas Day last year and was reported missing five days later.

His body has now been recovered and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
