Gardaí confirm man found dead in Meath was shot multiple times

Gardaí have confirmed that 26-year-old Paul Gallagher, whose body was found in Co Meath yesterday, was shot multiple times.

Investigating officers have launched a public appeal for information after formally launching a murder investigation.

They are particularly interested in the car Mr Gallagher is believed to have been travelling in - a Red Volkswagen Golf with 01 LH registration.

The body of Mr Gallagher, who is from Donaghmede in Dublin, was found in a field in the Ballymacan area at 5pm yesterday.

Superintendent Paul Moran from the Garda Press Office said officers were appealing for any information on his movements before his death.

"Our appeal is for anyone that has seen (this car) travelling from Donaghmede and most likely travelled across the M1 motorway and exited at the Slane exit (to contact us)," he said.
