Gardaí charge man in connection with Tipperary robbery

A man has been charged in connection with a robbery that occurred at a petrol station in Co Tipperary yesterday.

Gardaí were called to the robbery at the AppleGreen service station at Greenane, close to the Dungarvan Road in Clonmel, at around 4.30am yesterday morning after the man had threatened staff with a weapon.

The man had left the scene on foot carrying a firearm which he brandished and pointed at Gardaí as he approached Clonmel town centre.

The area was cleared and armed Gardaí arrested him on Sarsfield Street, between the river Suir and O’Connell Street.

The 21-year-old man is due to appear before Clonmel District Court this morning.
